18, 17, 16, 15 ...........the Countdown continues
Time moves on quickly and the new season will be upon us before we know it!
This was the Blackwater at 15.00 today (January 13) with the gauge height at Ballyduff at 0.90m.
As always at this time of year, I have started to graph the Rainfall & River Height daily on the
Fishing Report page from January 1st. in the run-up to the start of the new season.
Unfortunately, we only seem to be getting intermittent readings from the gauges on the
upper river at the moment, but hopefully this will be resolved by the start of the season.
The river is already in excellent spinning order with clarity of approx. 3-4 feet.
It would still be rather high for good fly-fishing, but with a good couple of weeks to go
before the Opening Day, it remains to be seen what kind of order it will be in then.
The Opening Day on Wednesday, February 1st.
The Opening Day celebration was fully booked up only 2 days after being announced in the last newsletter.
Fishing Syndication
We initiated a very limited syndicate scheme in 2010.
This was extended further in 2011 with membership for either the full season or just the first 4 months.
This scheme will continue for 2012, providing an enticing opportunity for those who are able to fish the Blackwater more often.
